Heilongjiang furniture exports bottomed out strong rebound

In the first half of the year, the total export value of furniture and its parts in the province was US$360 million, an increase of 31.1% over the same period of last year.

According to statistics from Harbin Customs, the total export value of furniture and its parts (hereinafter referred to as furniture) in the first half of this year was US$360 million, an increase of 31.1% over the same period of last year, accounting for 4.4% of the province’s total exports over the same period. The province's export of the main commodities sixth.

The total value of exports rebounded. In February of this year, the total value of furniture exports from our province was only US$30 million, a year-on-year decrease of 26.9%, a decrease of 49% compared with the previous month and the lowest value of this year. From March on, furniture exports steadily rebounded. In June, exports reached US$0.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22%. %, an increase of 5.5% from the previous quarter, hitting a record high since last year; an increase of 74.7% in April was the highest year-on-year increase this year.

European and American market share is mostly. As the impact of the financial crisis gradually weakened, the demand for office furniture and civilian furniture in Europe and the United States increased day by day, and the furniture exported from our province was inexpensive and had a certain price advantage. It was deeply loved by the European and American markets and its exports grew rapidly. In the first half of this year, our province exported 100 million U.S. dollars worth of furniture to the EU, an increase of 1.1 times; U.S. exports to the U.S. accounted for 90 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 98.6%; U.S. exports to the U.S. reached 30 million U.S. dollars, down 27%; and to Canada, it exported 10 million U.S. dollars, up 1.8 times. The exports to the above four countries (regions) accounted for 66.9% of the total value of furniture exports of the province during the same period.

Although the current situation of furniture exports in our province is good, but there are still constraints in the future of furniture exports can not be ignored. First, the price advantage has been gradually weakened. The continuous increase in the prices of imported logs, transportation, and labor forces has increased the production costs of enterprises and reduced their profits. Second, the trade barriers they suffer will become increasingly demanding. From July 1, the United States "Formaldehyde Standards Bill for Compound Wood Products" was formally implemented, and the Act again reduced the amount of formaldehyde released from wood products sold and distributed in the United States. People in the industry expect that 30% to 40% of export enterprises in the wood product manufacturing industry will be affected. The overall cost of raw materials will increase by 5% to 7%, and the number of furniture exports to the United States will decrease.
