US Metal Powder Industry Federation releases new standard

The American Metal Powder Industry Federation (MPIF) recently released the 2010 new standard for metal powder and powder metallurgy testing methods and standards 35, powder metallurgy self-lubricating bearing material standards. The test method standard consists of 130 pages and contains 39 recommended test methods for terminology and metal powders, powder metallurgy parts, metal injection molding (MIM) parts, metal filters and powder metallurgy equipment. The self-lubricating bearing standard consists of 28 pages, including a new material part of a diffusion alloyed iron-bronze bearing, new information on oil impregnation efficiency, correction data for bronze bearings, and modification of the data sheet.
In addition to the addition of a new standard - total carbon content determination of powder metallurgy materials (except hard alloys), the new version of the test method standard has been modified for 10 standards.
Both editions are based on the relevant ASTM and ISO standards.
Test method standards are available in paperback, electronic and CD-ROM formats for $75 each. The bearing standard also offers these three formats, each for $35.
