Scientists recently unveiled the world’s first bicycle with will control speed. The Parlee PXP bike from the Toyota Prius project has a volition controlled gearbox that responds to brain commands. Experts believe that through some exercises, everyone can master the method of controlling this kind of bicycle.
Human-machine interface expert Deeplocal has produced a unique helmet that transmits brainwaves to a microcontroller through wireless technology. This "neuronal helmet" uses electrodes to receive the driver's nerve-electric activity (ie, ideas) and sends the received signal to an electronic gear shift fork mounted under the seat. Deeplocal's creative engineer, Patrick Miller, said: "The system is made with off-the-shelf brainwave readers and software that can read signals from the brain."
He said: "The rider needs to practice a bit, but at the moment we are already at a stage where we can use ideas to change the speed. We have some special software to help people practice the methods that the helmet will read when you want to 'accelerate'. No matter whether the driver wants to accelerate or decelerate, the helmet can receive these signals and transmit them to the micro-control device.At the moment, this concept car is only in the experimental stage, but once you master the control method, you can do a lot of Things, such as changing the transmission based on speed or distance during travel."
This bike is jointly manufactured by Toyota Motor, Saatchi Advertising Co., and Parlee Cycles. Most of the body is made of carbon fiber. This is to adapt to aerodynamics and to combine all elements perfectly. All the brake wires of the car are installed inside the car body, and the brakes are installed in the front fork. The rider's back wears a small netbook and controls the brainwave reader.
Miller said: "In the future we will be mass-producing it, but at the moment it is still just a prototype vehicle. As a rider, I am still accustomed to the use of manual control, the two operating modes are very different. About this concept car I don’t have any long-term plans, I just want to ride it around and do cool things. We want to answer the following questions: How can we do this?
