Basic information and classification of sandpaper

Dry sanding paper (wood sandpaper) is used to polish wood and bamboo surfaces. Water-resistant sandpaper (water sandpaper) is used to polish the surface of metal or non-metallic workpieces in water or oil. The base paper was all copied from unbleached kraft pulp. The paper is tough, wear-resistant, and has good water resistance. The polishing material such as glass sand is adhered to the base paper with an adhesive such as gum and dried.

In actual use, the classification of sandpaper is very uniform.

According to the purpose:

Water sanding paper: The texture is relatively fine. The water sanding paper is suitable for polishing some fine textures and is suitable for post processing. Dry sanding paper: suitable for roughing or grinding some rough things, such as iron pipes. Water-sand paper has a small gap between the sand grains, and the grinding debris is also small. When used together with water, the powder will flow out with the water, so it should be used together with water. If it is dry-ground with water sandpaper, It will stay in the gap of the sand, so that the surface of the sandpaper will be dimmed and it will not achieve its original effect. The dry sandpaper is not so troublesome. The gap between the sand grains is larger. It will fall off during the grinding process due to the large gap, so it does not need to be used with water.

According to the product name:

Wood sandpaper, that is, dry sanding paper; water sandpaper, that is, water-resistant sandpaper; iron sand cloth, which is a kind of dry sanding paper, which is thicker and can polish the metal surface as soon as possible.

According to the abrasive material:

Brown corundum sandpaper; white corundum sandpaper; silicon carbide sandpaper; zirconium corundum sandpaper.

According to the binder:

Ordinary binder sandpaper; resin binder sandpaper.

There are also coarse sandpaper and fine sandpaper.
