The symptoms of corn armyworm are mainly larvae feeding on corn leaves. When it occurs seriously, the leaves are eaten in a short period of time, resulting in reduced yield or even no harvest. The 1st to 2nd instar larvae feed on the leaves to create holes, and the larvae above 3rd instar can eat light leaves when they are overeating. When a field of corn is eaten up, the larvae often move into a group of fields to cause damage, so it is also known as "walking insects." Generally, the terrain is low, the corn plants are uneven, and the weeds are heavily damaged.
Control measures:
Agricultural control: The field of hard hoe sowing, after the emergence of corn, it should be promptly ploughed and smashed, destroying the habitat of corn armyworm and reducing the source of insects.
Chemical control: (1) bait trapping. Use 90% of the 100% trichlorfon with a suitable amount of water, mix it with 1.5 kg of sauteed bran to make a poison bait, and spread it along the corn line in the evening to lure. (2) Foliar spray. The acre is sprayed with 2.5% enemy killing, 2.5% kungfu emulsifiable concentrate or 4.5% tianlongbao beta-cypermethrin 20~30 ml with water 30 kg evenly; chlorpyrifos No. 3 1500 times solution for foliar spray. (3) Spreading poisonous soil. Use 40% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate of 75~100g to add water, and mix 40~50kg of sand into the corn heart leaf to protect natural enemies and prevent corn mash.
