5 electro-hydraulic sand cleaning. A wet operation in which a special electrode is used to discharge a high voltage in water to generate a shock wave to clear the sand. This method is easy to control, high efficiency and low energy consumption. However, the operation process is relatively noisy, producing nitrogen monoxide and ozone, and having X-ray electromagnetic radiation, and the protection investment is high.
Casting trimming includes removing gates, risers, meat, lacing, and metal excesses such as cut edges, flash, burrs, and sanding the surface of the casting. Most castings still rely mainly on hand tools and semi-mechanical tools such as wind blowers, air shovel, high-speed hand-held grinding wheels, and suspended grinding wheels. Castings with less complex shapes are also available with general-purpose stamping machines and sawing machines. When the castings are large, special machines or special production lines are used for automation. Most steel castings are cut with oxygen or gas. Gas-electric cutting is a method of melting or oxidizing a metal by using a high temperature generated by an arc between an electrode and a casting, and blowing the melt with a high-pressure high-speed air stream to achieve a method of removing flash, burrs and projections of the casting. This method can be used not only to cut the riser but also to flatten the surface of the casting. However, gas-electric cutting has the disadvantage of producing arc, smoke and noise.
