(1) Flotation
Since talc is naturally floatable, it can be floated with a hydrocarbon oil collector. The commonly used collector is kerosene, and the flotation oil acts as a foaming agent. The talc flotation process is relatively simple, only one rough selection and sweeping, and the final concentrate can be obtained in 3-4 times of selection, but the talc concentrate is fine in size and dehydration is difficult.
(2) Hand selection
The hand selection is manually selected according to the slipperiness of talc and gangue minerals. Talc has good slipperiness, the higher the grade, the better the slipperiness, and it is easy to identify by hand. Most of the talc mines in China use hand-selected high-grade talc blocks. In recent years, foreign countries have successfully researched a sorting machine called slinger, which can separate the talc from the gangue according to the different friction coefficient of the ore, thus realizing the mechanization of talc hand selection.
(3) Electrostatic dressing
In addition to talc, talc contains minerals such as magnesite, magnetite, magnetic pyrite, and tremolite. The inlaid grain size is about 0.5 mm. In the electrostatic field, the talc has a negative charge, and the magnesite band is positive. The charge, while magnetite and magnetic pyrite are good conductors, so it is easy to separate the appeal minerals in the electric field.
(4) Magnetic separation
In addition to requiring a little fineness and purity, talc concentrate must also have the first Baidu. Due to the presence of dyed iron minerals in the ore, flotation alone is not sufficient, and magnetic separation is sometimes required to remove iron-containing materials. The Soviet Union and Canada have examples of magnetic separation and iron removal. The use of wet magnetic separation can reduce the iron content of talc concentrate from 4-5% to 0.7.
